Happy Trails

This past year has been most exciting for Minnie and me. As many of you know we were able to retire, took an Alaskan cruise, and had a new grandson . We really feel blessed.

We spent the last two months of 2007 in College Station to visit family, await the arrival of our grandson, and complete our tasks on the farm outside Giddings with the help of Steve Rehwaldt, our son Michael and his best friend Steve and our son-in-law Eric. The property now has water, electric, a driveway, a storage barn, a gate, but the fence is not complete. I was too anxious to begin our travels.

We began the year with a trip to the Davis Mountains to do some star gazing. Joined by Melissa, Eric, and two month old Evan, we had a family camping trip. Because of a few cloudy evening we were limited to the normal clear skies we have seen before. The days were mild so Eric and I were able to do some hiking.

Today we are trying to escape Old Man Winter by exploring Florida, but have only had a handful of sunny days. The beaches in the Destin area are remarkable, very clean, fine white sand, and few people. Our grandkids from Atlanta joined us here for a long weekend and it was very good to see them. We intend to travel the area until the end of March and then head back to our land outside Giddings.
